5th Apr 2006 |
Horticultural
company Banyards has re-won and extended a five year contract to maintain
all housing land in and around Salisbury owned by the district council
and highways areas owned by Wiltshire County Council.
The Dorset-based company has maintained these contracts within the district of Salisbury for the last six years and has now added the City Housing contract, which involves working in the city boundary in such as sheltered housing schemes and the city housing estates.
Work includes weekly & fortnightly grass cutting, shrub pruning, hedge cutting, weed control of hard areas and litter picking.
Reg Williams, parks manager for Salisbury District Council, said: "We have been very happy with Barnyards' consistent and reliable performance. There has been a good working relationship where every member of staff has been extremely helpful and the approach being flexible in delivering the service.
"Feedback from local councillors about their performance has always been positive and we had no hesitation to invite them to re-tender. The next stage is to move towards a partnership arrangement."
Allan Flippance, Barnyards' operations director, said: "Salisbury is a lovely area to work in. Among other things we are working with the district council on ways to develop and improve living areas for elderly residents in the sheltered housing."
Based near Ringwood, Banyards was started 33 years ago and now has separate divisions for grounds maintenance, tree surgery, interior plants, and hard & soft landscaping.
