Banyards give children a day to remember

6th June 2005

Banyards took eight children from the Philip Green Memorial School, Cranborne, on a trip to London recently. The children all have either severe learning or behavioural difficulties and Paul Edwards, Banyards' Managing Director, set the challenge of raising funds and organising a day the children would never forget.

Banyards staff contacted clients and suppliers for help, and BP Wytch Farm, Johnson Controls Ltd at Winfrith Technology Centre, Tech 4 Ltd of Poole and TC's Takeaway of Christchurch and Hurn all generously rose to the challenge, providing coach travel, trips on the London Eye and London Duck amphibious bus and a packed lunch large enough to feed an army. Even the weather was perfect.

Lesley Walter, the school's Headteacher, reported that the children had enjoyed a wonderful day and far from being exhausted at the end of it had been full of beans until well into the evening. The two carers who accompanied the children on the trip reported that they had watched each of the Banyards crew fall asleep in quick succession on the coach journey home, thoroughly exhausted!
