Cat rescue drama (well, nearly)

22nd Mar 2007

The tree surgery division of Banyards turned up to handle a heroic cat rescue - but the cat was so startled by its rescuer it ran down the tree on its own!

Tree surgeon Jason Davis climbed the 50' Lawson Cyprus to rescue a five month old Abyssinian kitten which had climbed right to the top three days before.

It had resisted all attempts by its owners to encourage it down, despite strong winds and rain, so they called out Banyards.

But as soon as Jason reached the top of the tree, the kitten decided to find its own way down, scrambling quickly down the outside of the tree until the last ten feet, when it dropped and landed on all fours by its owner.

Jason said: "I was wondering how I would carry the kitten down - the tree was so dense I couldn't take a bag up with me. So it all worked out rather well!"
