Vast atrium at 1000 Lakeside benefits from trees

31st Mar 2008

The impressive new full-glazed atrium at 1000 Lakeside near Portsmouth has benefited from four large trees supplied by Banyards Interior Plantscapes.

The extensive premises, now owned by property fund manager Highcross, offers office accommodation over four large floors of around 72,000 sq ft each.

Its new atrium creates a striking new focal point for the building and provides the reception, comfortable seating/meeting areas and a planned cafe bar.

Dorset-based Banyards supplied the five metre high tropical Ficus longifolia trees and visits every fortnight to water and maintain them. They are the largest indoor trees ever supplied by the Dorset-based company.

A spokesperson for Highcross said: “The atrium at 1000 Lakeside is stunning and is significantly enhanced by the new trees.”

Banyards' Hayley Baugh said: “It's a huge space with a lot of impact as you enter the building. The trees add colour and a bit of nature to soften the effect.

“In the wild these are full-sized trees but in planters and maintained well they will stay at their current height.”

1000 Lakeside is available in suites from 2,000 sq ft upwards on a conventional leasing basis.
